Why are PhD holders called Doctors?

“Doctor” from a Latin word, “docerewhich means “to teach.” In medieval Europe, doctors were first used for scholars who were qualified to teach at universities. A PhD, i.e., Doctor of Philosophy represents one of the highest degrees in the field of academics, representing the innovation and intensive research which can be contributed to a better world.
