Pros 

  • Italy consists of some of the most prestigious universities for PhD in Electrical Engineering including  Politecnico di Torino, Politecnico di Milano, Sapienza University of Rome, and University of Bologna. 
  • Most of the PhD in Italy are fully funded with a monthly stipend of € 1,200 – € 1,600.  
  • Italy consists of some of the modern-day research trends including smart grids, renewable energy, robotics, embedded systems, and much more. Many of the projects are a part of EU-funded programs offering exposure and mobility. 

Cons 

  • There is often a problem of language barrier when you are studying a non-English speaking nation. Even though the degree is in English, but the everyday commotion can be difficult if an individual is not familiar with Italian.  
  • Fully funded seats are very limited in Italy and there is a lot of competition around it. 
  • While the PhD in Electrical Engineering is a good option to pursue in Italy. But, with the completion of the degree, the career prospects are much lower than that of Germany, USA or UK.
