Most Universities in India would like their PhD Synopsis to fall somewhere in between five to fifteen pages long. The length of a PhD Synopsis is usually much more dependent upon the discipline or area of study you are pursuing (as well as where you are pursing it), rather than anything else. Generally speaking, science and engineering students will have very concise, clearly laid out Synopses, while Humanities students are likely to write more lengthy Synopses because of the extensive literature reviews that they include.
