For purposes of determining your merit position within the state, your higher score will be utilized. That is an advantage. • Passing the Class 12 test matters most. Those exams must come from an approved school system.
• 45 percent at least needed in the Class 12 exam, though those in SC or ST groups must reach just 40 percent.
• Physics & Chemistry will be common subjects in both PCM and PCB Groups. Math for PCM Group & Biology for PCB group.
• Student must be an Indian Citizen.
• There is NO AGE LIMIT. (This one shocks many students that there are literally no maximum/minimum age restrictions to take MHT CET)

Also, please note: 85% of all Seats in Colleges of Maharashtra State are reserved for Students who belong to Maharashtra State.

• Aadhaar card or APAAR ID (mandatory from this year)

• Scanned signature on white paper

Aadhaar and APAAR ID became non-mandatory from February 13, 2026, onwards (after an earlier rule update), but having them ready saves time.

MHT CET Exam Pattern 2026

The MHT CET exam pattern 2026 has two separate question papers based on the group you chose:

PCM Group (Engineering):

SubjectQuestionsMarks
Mathematics50100 (2 marks each)
Physics5050 (1 mark each)
Chemistry5050 (1 mark each)
Total150200

PCB Group (Pharmacy/Biology):

SubjectQuestionsMarks
Biology100100 (1 mark each)
Physics5050 (1 mark each)
Chemistry5050 (1 mark each)
Total200200

Duration: 3 hours for each group. The exams are computer-based. Each day there will be two test sessions Session 1: 9 AM – 12 PM and Session 2: 2 PM – 5 PM.

There will be no negative marks. One of the major reasons why this is different than JEE Main or VIT Engineering Entrance (VITEEE) is that all questions can be attempted. An unanswered question = zero points. The wrong question = zero points.

MHT CET Preparation Tips That Actually Help

With Session 2 weeks away, here’s what makes sense right now:

Prioritize Class 12 content:-  It makes up 80% of the MHT CET question paper. If you’ve been preparing for boards, you’re already covering most of what MHT CET tests.

Attempt MHT CET mock tests:- The CET Cell provides free mock tests on the portal. Use them. They get you used to the exam interface and the question style. The paper’s difficulty level is like JEE Main, so if you’ve been practicing JEE papers, you’re not starting from scratch.

Work through MHT CET in previous year’s papers:- Questions from past years often repeat in structure. Solving 5–6 MHT CET previous year papers under timed conditions builds both speed and confidence.

Don’t skip Mathematics if you’re in the PCM group:- Math carries 100 marks out of 200 on the PCM paper.

Start with what’s already on your shelf:- those Class 11 and 12 Maharashtra Board books. That’s where it begins. Everything else simply adds to the top. When you want more questions to solve, pick up guides from Target Publications or Navneet, focused just on state syllabus bits. If physics still feels shaky, try DC Pandey or HC Verma instead – they explain ideas better than most. What sticks isn’t always what comes first

Because wrong answers aren’t penalized, tackle each question without holding back. Trying one you’re uncertain about won’t hurt – sometimes it even pays off.

When juggling several tests like MHTCET and school finals, a clear last-phase strategy beats long study sessions. At Aimlay, success often follows those who tackle three admissions tests together – provided their approach stays organized. Instead of covering every topic, focus on lands on reviewing what truly counts, timed just right.
