Introduction

The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS) is a postgraduate degree programme in Ayurveda which prepares candidates for practising as doctors in Indian hospitals or abroad. The course structure of BAMS involves four years of study, requiring an additional year for some specialities. In addition to the MBBS degree, students also get training in yoga therapy, besides knowing how to prepare ayurvedic medicines from herbs and plants.

BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is a postgraduate degree programme in Ayurveda which prepares candidates for practising as doctors in Indian hospitals or abroad. It is a two-year course with a total of 18 modules.

The courses are available at KVSS College of Ayurveda, Shriram Navodaya Vidyalaya, MJR Agricultural University and IIT Goa. 

  1. KVSS College of Ayurveda – It offers a full-time 5-year undergraduate course. You can also pursue a 3-year postgraduate diploma course in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (DAMS) or a 2-year MD degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (MAMS). The college conducts an entrance examination every year, open to students nationwide. 
  2. Shriram Navodaya Vidyalaya – The school offers a 3-year full-time diploma course in Ayurveda and a 1-year postgraduate degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (MAMS). 
  3. MJR Agricultural University – It offers a 4-year undergraduate course in Ayurveda. The university conducts an entrance exam every year open to students across India. 
  4. IIT Goa – The institution offers a 5-year undergraduate course in Ayurveda and Panchakarma. The entrance exam is held annually and is open to students across India.
