Every year, a big exam decides who gets into M.C.A. programs at N.I.T.s across India. NIMCET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Check that you meet the eligibility requirements before you complete your NIMCET application form.
Nationality: Only an Indian national may apply.
Education: You need to have completed three years of study in one of the following types of programs from a recognized institution;
• B.Sc.
• B.Sc. (Hons.)
• BCA
• BIT with Math’s or Stats being a compulsory subject.
Or you can be a graduate from either B.E. or BTech program.
Also, open University students who studied for a degree in one of the aforementioned areas of study (and their degrees were accepted by UGC, AICTE and DEC), are also entitled to apply.
Minimum Aggregate Mark Requirement:
•For General/OBC applicants: 60%.
•For SC/ST/PWD applicants: 55%.
Maximum Age Restriction: None.
An additional point to keep in mind – you can’t simply convert CGPA into percent (to reach the eligibility criteria). Your CGPA directly determines whether you have met eligibility if your college uses a 10-point system.
The NIMCET route to BCA to MCA is by far one of the most popular routes. If you complete a BCA with Math, you will be qualified. The same applies to MCA after completing BSc with either Math or Stat.
