VITEEE 2026 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

This is the most important update of the year. VIT introduced negative markings in VITEEE 2026 for the first time. This changes everything about how you should attempt the paper.

SectionNo. of Questions
Physics35
Chemistry35
Mathematics / Biology40
English5
Aptitude10
Total125

VITEEE 2026 Marking Scheme:

. Correct answer: +4 marks
. Wrong answer: -1 mark
. Unattempt: 0 marks

Total marks: 500. Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes.

To obtain a score that is greater than approximately 400 (the general threshold for admission into VIT Vellore’s Computer Science Engineering) you will have to answer between 103-107 questions correctly. In terms of percentage, this would mean your overall correctness rating on all questions asked would be in the ballpark of 82-85%.

VITEEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria for BTech

Before worrying about anything else, make sure you qualify:

. You must have passed or appearing in Class 12 (10+2) from a recognized board in 2024 or 2025
. Minimum 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology for BTech Biotech/Bioinformatics streams)
. English as a compulsory subject
. No age bar for Indian nationals

No, VIT does not accept JEE Main scores. Admission is based only on your VITEEE results. This is a point many students miss when planning their backup options.

VITEEE 2026 Syllabus: Subject by Subject

Over on viteee.vit.ac.in, grab the VIT VITEEE free syllabus PDF for 2026. That website holds everything laid out clearly. No cost comes with pulling down that file. Year after year it appears ahead of time. Information inside stays updated without delays. Look first at that link when prepping begins.

Right now, picture this – about 30 percent goes toward motion and forces, simply because they show up everywhere. Heat and temperature take around 20 percent, since energy shifts matter quite a bit. Light and waves? They grab roughly 15 percent, thanks to how often they appear in real situations. Electricity and magnetism hold about 40 percent weight due to their wide role across systems. Meanwhile, atomic structure stays under 10 percent, small but still essential

Static charges along with flowing charge make up roughly a tenth of the topic
Magnetism along with electromagnetic interference makes up around ten to eleven percent
Ray Optics and Wave Optics around 7 to 8 percent

Heat, energy, motion – how things move when spinning ties into rules about force. Things stay still unless pushed, then they keep going till something stops them.

Chemistry has several key subjects that have relatively high weighted percentages:

1. coordination compounds about ten percent
2. Chemistry involving electricity makes up about nine percent
3. Chemical Kinetics about 9 percent
4. Atomic Structure About Nine Percent
5. Chemical Bonding About 8 Percent
6. Heat science makes up about eight percent.

Most questions in Organic Chemistry come straight from what you learned in class twelve using NCERT books. Expect a strong focus on how reactions work, including step-by-step pathways they follow. Instead of memorizing facts, think through each transformation like pieces moving across a board. Reaction patterns repeat – notice them early. The exam checks depth, not speed. What mattered most in your textbook will matter again here. Clarity beats guesswork every time.

English (five questions) grammar and comprehension. Do not ignore English. If you get all five right at +4 each, that is twenty points which is effectively “free” points to you.

Aptitude (ten questions) — number series, data analysis/interpretation, elementary logical reasoning. If you have taken another engineering entrance exam, then you’ll see these types of questions again.

There is also the complete VITEEE Syllabus Pdf 2026 containing Chapter by Chapter information. Visit the official website and print/download it, go through it and mark off those topics you have already completed.

VITEEE 2026 Preparation Tips for the Last Few Days

To prepare before the April 28th testing date, there’s no time for large scale changes. So, here’s what’s currently feasible at this point:

1. Do not attempt to learn anything new. If you have not yet completed coverage of a Chapter, do not begin that Chapter now. Instead, focus your efforts upon reviewing the materials that you’ve previously covered.

2. Take 2-3 Mock Tests. This will help you get accustomed to the VITEEE Exam Interface as well as its Timer & Question Format. I would like to note that many students waste considerable amounts of valuable time during the actual Test Day by merely trying to figure out how to utilize the System.

3. Familiarize yourself with the VITEEE Timed Pattern. When facing 125 questions over a span of 150 minutes, you’re going to have approximately 72 seconds per question. While Speed is important, Accuracy is far more significant; and with Negative Marking, you can’t afford to make too many mistakes.

4. Chemistry may offer the greatest opportunity for achieving high quality Scores. Most of your Chemistry questions from Class 12 NCERT — especially those in Inorganic and Organic Chemistry — should be relatively easy to recognize if you have reviewed your textbook thoroughly.

5. Later won’t be better when it comes to English and Aptitude tasks. These fifteen problems – five about language, ten on reasoning – tend to feel lighter compared to heavier parts later in the test. Getting them done upfront, or reserving a tight quarter-hour just for these, turns into quiet momentum. Skipping that move might leave reachable points behind.

When juggling several tests like VITEEE, BITSAT, and school finals, a clear last-phase strategy beats long study sessions. At Aimlay, success often follows those who tackle three admissions tests together – provided their approach stays organized. Instead of covering every topic, focus on lands on reviewing what truly counts, timed just right.
