How to Apply for a PhD in Electrical Engineering in Kerala: Step-by-Step Guide

Kerela is a home to many top universities for PhD in Electrical Engineering including CUSAT (Cochin University of Science and Technology), NIT Calicut, IISER Thiruvananthapuram and other state universities. Below is a step-by-step guide to apply for the same: 

  • Step1: Research and identify the universities that offer an individual PhD in Electrical Engineering. Check the faculty and the ongoing research areas to match if they fulfil your specializations. 
  • Step 2: Check the eligibility criteria. Usually a master’s degree (M.Tech/M.E.) in Electrical, Electronics, Communication, or related fields with a minimum of 6.5 CGPA is required.  
  • Step 3: The next step is to appear for entrance exams. Most of the entrance exams in Kerela are conducted by the universities. Candidates with UGC NET, GATE or equivalent exam might be exempted.  
  • Step 4: The next step is to prepare a research proposal. Some of the universities conducts an interview to ask about the research proposal to check if the research fits the university’s guidelines.  
  • Step 5: Fill in the online application before the last date. Upload the correct documents and fill the application carefully. 
  • Step 6: Most of the universities conduct their own written test and interviews for the candidates and do not rely on the national-level exams.  
  • Step 7: Admission and Registration is the last step to the admission process. An individual will receive an email for the ‘Offer Letter.’ Candidates will then be asked to visit the university with the original documents for verification and fee payment. Completion to all these tasks will assure the enrollment of the candidate
