CUET UG 2026 Exam Date: What’s Confirmed

CUET UG 2026 exams are scheduled to take place over eleven days beginning May 11 through May 31, 2026. NTA plans to hold the CUET UG 2026 at 321 test locations across thirteen languages.
A subject-specific CUET 2026 date sheet is anticipated to be available as early as the third week of April 2026. Although NTA didn’t issue a subject-specific date sheet for the CUET 2025 exams, candidates received an integrated list of their exam time, location, and medium of testing in their City Intimation Slip. Candidates who receive a city intimation slip for the CUET 2026 exams may expect to see the same format used this year.

CUET UG 2026 Slot Timings
The CUET UG 2026 exams are expected to occur in two shifts per day. Based on previous years, we anticipate the timing as follows: Slot 1 which will be held in the morning, Slot 2 will be held in the afternoon, from 3pm to 6pm.
Your specific time slot will be clearly listed with your city notification letter and admission ticket. Do not estimate what time slot you have been assigned by your subject or category; NTA will assign a time slot at random when it schedules the test.
The individual test papers are anticipated to last sixty minutes. If you are testing multiple subjects, each will occur on a different day. Unless there is an extreme conflict that cannot be avoided, NTA does not run these tests simultaneously; instead, if there is a conflict, NTA will run both tests consecutively.
CUET UG 2026 Exam Pattern
Total Questions: 50 questions for each test paper. All questions are compulsory. Duration: 60 minutes per test paper. Marking Scheme: +5 marks for each correct answer. Negative marking: 1 mark is deducted for every wrong attempt.
The exam is divided into three sections:
Section 1 Language Test checks reading skills with real-life, story-based, and creative texts. Word knowledge and feeling for literature matter here too. Thirteen tongues are included – like Assamese right through to Urdu – with Bengali, Hindi, and others in between. Each version keeps things grounded in how people actually use the language.
Section 2 Domain-Specific Subjects Now down to 23, the list of domain-specific subjects shrinks from its earlier 27 by 2026. Outgo Entrepreneurship, Performing Arts, along with a few more, cut by NTA. Even without prior exposure in Class 12, learners may take any chosen field – thanks to a new UGC policy kicking in that year. Flexibility defines this shift
Section 3 General Test includes General Knowledge Current Affairs General Mental Ability Numerical Ability Quantitative Reasoning Basic Mathematics Arithmetic Algebra Geometry Mensuration Statistics and Logical Analytical Reasoning.
Maximum subjects: A candidate can appear in up to 5 subjects including languages and the General Test.
Total marks per subject: 250 (50 questions × 5 marks). The maximum possible total score depends on the number of subjects chosen.
One important shift in 2026: since 2022, board examination percentages have not been used for central university UG admissions. A student with 85% on boards and a strong CUET score will get admission over a student with 97% on boards and a lower CUET score. Every time.

CUET UG 2026 Admit Card
NTA will issue the CUET admit card 2026 in the first week of May. Cards are released in stages not all candidates get theirs on the same day. NTA typically releases admit cards 3–4 days before the specific exam date for each batch.
To download: visit cuet.nta.nic.in, log in using your application number and date of birth and download the PDF. Print it. You need a hard copy at the exam center along with a valid photo ID — no digital admit card is accepted at the gate.
Check every detail name, roll number, photo, exam center address, and date immediately after downloading. Any discrepancy needs to be flagged to NTA before the exam day.
CUET UG 2026 Exam Centers
CUET is held in over 500 cities in India and abroad, making it one of the most significant UG entrance examinations in the country. The city intimation slip released a week or two before the admit card tells you which city your center falls in. The full center address with pin code and reporting time comes on the admit card.
Do not make travel or accommodation bookings until the city intimation slip is out. Many candidates assume their home city and find themselves allocated to a different one.
CUET UG 2026 Participating Universities
Over 280 universities now accept CUET scores for UG admissions. This includes all Central Universities (Delhi University, JNU, BHU, Jamia Millia Islamia, AMU, Hyderabad Central University), many state universities, and select private and deemed institutions.
Each participating university has its own cut-off and counselling process. There is no single national CUET counselling. After results, visit each university’s official portal individually to register for their admission round.
The CUET cut off 2026 expected will vary by course and university. DU cut-offs for high-demand courses like B.Com (Hons) and BA (Hons) Psychology have historically been very high 95+ out of 200 in the relevant domain subject. Science courses and less popular programs generally have lower thresholds.
CUET UG 2026 Preparation Tips
Don’t begin by studying the material. Study the format of the test. Know the number of questions, types of questions, and the marking system before opening the book. Studying the format will influence the way you study.
NCERT is your starting point. The Class 12 NCERT is both the only reference guide and the one-and-only source of information for all domain subjects. There will be no question asked that does not appear in Class 12 NCERT. Read every chapter in the NCERT for your subject(s).
Practice mock exams as though they were timed. Most students feel like 60 minutes per subject is too little when trying to do their best while being stressed out during an actual exam. Repeatedly practice each subject’s full-length paper under a timer. Your goal should be 70-80% correct answers, remembering results in a loss of -1 mark for each incorrect answer.
The General Test is also scoreable quickly. Many students tend to undervalue and therefore do not adequately prepare for the General Test, which may result in losing easily earned marks. It takes approximately 3-4 weeks of serious commitment to improve your current events, basic quantitative skills, and logic-based abilities.
Do not forget about the Language Paper. Although your target school/university only accepts applicants who have taken the Domain Subjects, having a good score on your Language Paper can give you an advantage. Increasing your reading speed, improving your vocabulary, etc., take consistent and persistent practice (not cramming) over several months/years to achieve.
If you registered for CUET 2026 and need help mapping your subject combination to the right universities or want guidance on which scores unlock which courses at which institutions, Aimlay’s counselling team helps students through exactly this from CUET subject strategy to final university shortlisting and application.
CUET UG 2026 Result Date
Early July 2026 should see the CUET UG results come out, following past patterns. The scores will show up online at cuet.nta.nic.in. To view yours, log in using your application number along with your birth date
Subject-wise marks show up alongside normalized scores on the scorecard. Depending on when each university sets its deadlines, they decide upon admission by using these results.
