NMAT Exam Pattern 2026: What the Test Looks Like

NMAT 2026 is a computer-based adaptive test of 120 minutes with 108 questions across 3 sections. Candidates can choose the order of sections, and there is no negative marking.

SectionQuestionsTime
Language Skills3628 minutes
Quantitative Skills3652 minutes
Logical Reasoning3640 minutes
Total108120 minutes

Marking scheme: +3 for each correct answer. No negative marking for wrong answers. Total possible score: 324.

NMAT has a sectional time limit unlike SNAP; you cannot skip between sections freely. You must complete each section within its time limit before moving to the next. The section order is your choice, so think about this before the exam.

The NMAT questions are selected randomly from a pool. The difficulty level remains predetermined, irrespective of the NMAT exam date and location. This makes NMAT scores comparable across different test dates and attempt numbers.

The NMAT Syllabus can be downloaded from the official website of NMIMS via MBA.com/Exams/NMAT. The following is a subject by subject break down:

The Language Skills Section includes Reading Comprehension, Para Jumble, Fill in the blanks, Grammar, Vocabulary, Analogies & Antonyms / Synonyms. For those that read often, this part of the exam should be fairly easy to complete. Compared to CAT, RC passages are short. However, time is at a premium as there are 36 questions to answer within 28 minutes; therefore, each question must be completed in less than 48 seconds.

Quantitative skills on the NMAT include arithmetic (percentages, ratios, profit-loss, time-speed-distance), algebra, geometry, number systems, probability, and data interpretation. Important topics in quantitative skills include percentages, ratios, equations, probability, and graph-based problem solving. Those students that have studied Cat-quant will likely feel comfortable with the material presented here while it may not be as difficult as Cat-quant; it does require an extremely high level of speed.

NMAT 2026 Question Paper: What to Expect

One thing to know: no actual NMAT 2026 test paper comes out once the exam ends. Since GMAC uses an adaptive format, each person sees unique questions pulled from a larger bank. That setup keeps things individually. Practice material? It shows up on mba.com in the form of full tests and example problems. Not everything appears at once, but resources do exist there

Start with the real deal – GMAC’s own practice tools. After that, bring in NMAT-style mocks from online prep sites. Because each section has a clock ticking, practicing under time pressure isn’t optional – it’s required. Wrap every session with strict timers.
