The distinction between Lawyer and Advocate is that in India, these terms are commonly used interchangeably.

The primary distinction between a lawyer and an advocate is that advocates are licenced professionals who are able to practise law and represent clients in court.
Lawyers, on the other hand, can only advise their clients.
